Energy and water conservation isn’t something we should only think about during the cooling season when our bills are the highest!

Sales Tax Exemptions
Residents and Business Owners should be aware that there are many resources available to them to help reduce their utility bills. Foremost you should be aware that the State of Florida currently has a Sales Tax Exemption period in place through June 30th, 2023. Applicable to Energy Star-certified washing machines, clothes dryers, water heaters, refrigerators are all exempt from Florida sales taxes if purchased by June 30th, 2023. www.floridarevenue.com/taxes/tips/Documents/TIP_22A01-05.pdf

Energy Conservation Tips
Both the US federal government and the State of Florida have web sites full of useful information directly applicable to the majority of our residents and business owners. The US government’s WWW.EnergyStar.gov web site and the Sate of Florida www.myfloridahomeenergy.com web site are excellent resources.

Need Help Funding Energy Conservation Projects?
The City of Lake Worth Beach has partnered with the Solar Energy Loan Fund (“SEF”) to bring residents low-interest rate home improvement loans for new high efficiency air conditioners, fortified roofing, impact windows, solar panels, and much more. Visit SELF’s web site www.SolarEnergyLoanFund.org and contact them directly to learn more about how they can help you make improvements to your home.

So don’t wait until your bills are the highest during the summer months. Act now to get your new equipment installed so you can begin saving.

Meanwhile rest assured that your City’s electric and water utilities have already implemented energy conservation projects City-wide to help reduce our energy use. In 2017 we made upgrades to our indoor lighting, installed programable thermostats, upgraded air conditioning systems, and replaced all of our streetlights with energy efficient LED versions. We also installed our own 1.7 Megawatt solar energy project atop the City’s closed landfill, which will be augmented by 36.55 Megawatts of solar energy purchases from various Florida Municipal Power Agency solar projects that begin delivering energy to us in December of 2023. Together we are helping reduce our carbon footprint and taking steps to control our energy costs.
