Progress Through Leadership with Jean St. Simon,
Distribution Engineering Supervisor

From Inspiration to Leadership
Jean St. Simon, the Distribution Engineering Supervisor for the City of Lake Worth Beach Electric Utilities, brings more than two decades of engineering experience and a deep commitment to reliability and teamwork.
Jean’s path into the electric utilities industry began with a spark of inspiration from a friend working at a large electric company. That initial interest led to a long and successful career in engineering, culminating in his current role where he oversees all aspects of distribution projects, from design to material acquisition.

Dedication to the Job
A typical day for Jean starts with reviewing emails, followed by a mix of contractor support, field reviews, and ensuring materials and specifications meet the city’s standards.
Jean’s technical expertise runs deep. He shared “I can look at a pole in this city and tell you the height, type, class, and even what kind of wire it’s carrying,” he says with a smile.
Among the many projects he’s proud of, Jean highlights his current work on the System Hardening Reliability Improvement Project (SHRIP), an initiative focused on strengthening infrastructure and improving the resiliency of the electric system. “We’re working every day to make sure Lake Worth Beach has reliable power, now and into the future.”
Jean is especially proud of the strong culture and collaborative environment within the Electric Utilities Department. “Everyone here is competent and dedicated. I couldn’t do my job without my fellow employees,” he says. “We’ve built a team that supports one another.”

Recognition and Future Goals
One memorable moment in his career came when the Electric Utilities Director, Ed Liberty, publicly recognized Jean for outstanding work during a training seminar. “It meant a lot,” he says. “And being promoted to supervisor, that was a big milestone for me.”
Outside of work, Jean enjoys playing soccer and is known for his culinary skills, he claims to cook a mean plate of spaghetti.
Looking ahead, Jean remains focused on continuing to enhance the city’s power reliability and supporting the next generation of engineers. With steady leadership, deep technical knowledge, and a passion for excellence, Jean St. Simon is helping power a stronger future for Lake Worth Beach.
